Local matters

Reporter for next generation news service

We’re looking for reporters to work as part of a team dedicated to bringing civic affairs journalism and analysis to Honolulu and Hawaii in a commercially sustainable way. The leaders of Peer News combine social media and online community experience with a record of producing quality journalism in the public interest.

If you are a skilled and energetic reporter, passionate about reinventing journalism and motivated by the opportunity to have an impact on local issues, we want to talk to you.  Our focus will be public affairs and civic matters that impact communities across the state.

The ideal candidates will have expertise and experience covering state and local government, politics, the environment and public health, criminal justice or education. Hawaii experience or background is a big plus. A proven ability to break exclusive enterprise and investigative stories is a must. You also must be prepared to interact regularly with readers and the community, be savvy about using today’s technology and be willing to do jobs both big and small to help the business succeed.

This is a great opportunity to help build the next generation news service in Honolulu. You will work directly with our Pulitzer-Prize winning editor on a daily basis to establish and develop our reputation for credible, responsible and valuable reporting.
